Two Houses

A while back Kel gave me her old basement couch. I have managed to squeeze it into my living room.  I knew I wanted more seating and it just happened to match my white cotton slip-covered couch perfectly (thanks Mom, she makes amazing slip covers). At first I thought the arrangement was a bit awkward with the back of the couch to the fireplace but it feels pretty…pretty good.

Here’s a snapshot of what my living room looks like at the moment. There is actually a second sitting area to the right of this, but it’s not ready for it’s debut on twohouses yet. I have a second slipper chair to match and it is normally in here, but I removed it because I like the extra space. Since it’s been gone I’ve had a lot of complaints because when people visit we have to pull up another chair (from my collection) or people have to sit near eachother on the couch, and that would be akward. I take a lot of ribbing about the pillows in the room. Right now I’m down to two, but I’ve had upwards of 7 accent pillows on the couch at one time. It’s a sickness. I’ve caught myself putting pillows back on the shelf when I shop because I can’t bear anymore teasing. I actually hate the pillows that are in this photo.

I’ve got 9 houseplants in my living room, I love plants. I’m a plant person not a pet person. And even though I don’t always love the look of plants in decorating (1980’s geraniums come to mind) I just love the plants so much that I try to include them somehow.
