Oh my God, just saw the trailer for the new documentary about Anna Wintour at Vogue magazine. A true devil wearing Prada, looks so good - can’t wait to see it!! Even the office in the documentary looks exactly the same as Miranda’s in The Devil Wears Prada. Check out the trailer to see what I am so excited about!

First of all….. Congratulations Kelly!!!!!!! Kel got married a week ago! She had the most perfect and gorgeous wedding I’m so happy for you Kel, and please post a photo asap, xoxo.
The second I saw this photo I thought about Kelly’s upcoming (who knows when) backyard reno. Kelly has loved the color Turquoise since she was about 5 years old and she has been 100% loyal to Turquoise, it’s a true love. Kel, you need to blog about your Turquoise house and your Turquoise bridal shower. I know you don’t live in Miami, but you might want to consider this when you design your backyard deck;

And check out his patio furniture;

I know this blog is supposed to be about our houses, but since Kel and I spent our teenage years together listening to and loving The Smiths and Morrissey, he gets a Happy Birthday blog posting from us today!
From his best birthday song;
“I’ve come to wish you an unhappy birthday because you’re evil and you lie and if you should die, I may feel slightly sad but I won’t cry”
Gotta love him!

My kitchen is white with black counters which is perfect for me since I have no loyalty to design or decor. The lack of commitment to a style has also blocked any chance of me ever getting a tattoo. I need a blank canvas at home so that I can change things up when the mood strikes, without having to renovate. Here are some examples from my inspiration folder;

When did we go from this;
to this?
I’m slipping back into Amish mode, I go through phases and I love being Amish (minus God). I’m like the soup nazi of technology (minus blogging), NO TV!, NO Caller ID! NO Cordless Phones! My kids think sticks are toys…
Now seriously, there’s just something so warm and fuzzy about a simple old radio with real buttons and dials. Remember when volume, tuner and on/off were our only options? What the hell happened? Yes, I’ll admit I do have a fancy Blackberry, and it’s ok, I guess. But I really LOVE old electronics. I think I’m going to start collecting them, well small ones. I do need a radio for my kitchen, I’m getting tired of the shuffle songs mix on my ipod. It loves to play Christmas music by BonyM and Bing Crosby…..apple needs to fix that, leave the Christmas songs off of the shuffle setting!!
I did find this “new” radio that I love a lot too but it’s silly expensive and I’m holding out for a clock radio with the clock that has the flip numbers like a mini Rolodex.

How did this happen? I just received a card in the mail from Domino to let me know that my subscription will be replaced with…… no, not Architectural Digest, which is where the Domino mag’s website has been redirected.
Glamour. I now have a subsription to Glamor (typo, but it stays out of disrespect). Who knows maybe I’ll shift my focus from my house to my ego!

I think I’ll jump through the hoops to get a refund.
p.s. I will start blogging about my house as soon as I get a NEW CAMERA!!!!!

Last year, my boyfriend and I decided that we were going to renovate his house before we got married. I guess it was a little backwards in the traditional sense, but it really needed doing, so we took on the project together. I had built my loft a few years earlier so was familiar with some renovation projects, but this took us to an entire new level. Thankfully we worked with some amazing contractors which definitely eased the process, but the design and details were all us. Oh, did I mention that at the same time as doing the kitchen we also re-did the main floor bathroom, replaced all the floors and changed some windows and doors!! So above you can see the final outcome, well worth the time and the money. I adore my kitchen, it came out pretty much exactly as I had imagined it. For those of you wondering, my pendant lights and all the hardware came from Restortion Hardware, and my cute espresso machine is from Nespresso.

Anyone who is a fan of Domino magazine, for sure will recognize the fantastic photography of Paul Costello. Take the time to browse his site if you have a chance. Everytime I look at it I find a new source of inspiration. I could have posted a thousand of his pics, but instead picked out a few of my favorites. I seriously think I need a class on photography now.
